How to Apply
Print and complete the PDF form below with you or your childs GP/Physio or specialist.
*Please note the weight limit for new applications at this time is 10 stone or 63kgs due to a lack of larger horses*
Send the completed and signed forms back to Penniwells RDA Centre as soon as possible.
Please Note: We do not contact you to say your application has arrived – If you would like confirmation of its arrival then please send a request via email to penniwellsrda@outlook.com.
Please note our waiting list at present has 51 applicants – We cannot guarantee that you will be given a space once assessed as your suitability on riding is based on the assessment process. Lots of things need to be put in place first ie: size of horse required, volunteer help available, if you are able to sit up on the horse at assessment time, how you get on and off the horse – all have to be thought about carefully before we will offer you a permanent riding session.
Please be aware Riding is a risk sport and whilst we try to keep the risk to a minimum we cannot promise you will not fall off, be trodden on, nipped or kicked at some point. You must consider the risk before agreeing to our terms & conditions at the Centre.
FAQ
Send the completed and signed forms back to Penniwells RDA Centre as soon as possible.
You or your child will now be placed on the waiting list – We will contact you to arrange an assessment date and time with a view to you starting riding with us.
When an appropriate space becomes available you will be contacted by a member of staff at our centre to arrange an assessment.
At the assessment future times of riding sessions will be discussed.
Spaces are more likely to be offered quicker if you can ride during the week during school hours.
Weekends and after school are our most popular times.
All payments are to be made by BACS online in advance.
Anyone failing to pay fees in the time period will be stopped from riding until fees have been fully paid. If you have problems with your payment or wish to discuss it further please contact the Treasurer, Eileen McGrath or Sarah Healing.
If you have any queries regarding payment please email to penniwellsrda@outlook.com.
Without fees paid on time we cannot continue to run efficiently.
Each rider is provided with a leader and either 1 or 2 side helpers as is required – some may not need a side helper at all – all this is assessed on your first ride. We teach all our riders to really ride their ponies therefore will encourage them to become independent of the side help and leaders if and when they are able to do so. All riders are encouraged to ride with & without stirrups as the disability allows along with progression of ridden skills.
Please arrive in enough time for your session – if you are more than 10 mins late then sadly you will not be allowed to join the session as it disrupts the rest of the ride. If you are held up please phone so we know you are on your way.
Please let us know if you are unable to attend your session as we have volunteers and ponies tacked up and ready to go.
Any cancellations and holidays must be notified as soon as possible.
In case of bad weather (heavy snow or high winds) please ring to make sure riding is still on before you leave.
